Leigh Erin Connealy, M.D., M.P.H. received a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Texas and her M.D. from the Rosalind Franklin University Chicago Medical School. She did her postgraduate training in family practice at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Connealy began practicing medicine in 1986. More and more of her patients started asking about alternative treatments and this prompted her to learn everything she could about nontoxic protocols. In 1992, she founded the South Coast Medical Center for New Medicine in Irvine, California, where she serves as Medical Director. Her practice is firmly based in the belief that strictly treating health problems with medications does not find the root cause of the illness.
The Center’s doctors, nurse practitioners and complementary medical specialists work synergistically to provide the very best of "New Medicine", focusing on determining the root cause of illness, and looking at the whole person relative to nutritional, physiological, social and environmental effects. Their “prescriptions” routinely included customized dietary and lifestyle recommendations, nutritional supplements, and other complementary therapies.
The Center provides patients access to some of the world’s most technologically advanced medical equipment, which is usually found only at select university research hospitals. This includes a non-invasive, cutting-edge 64-slice CT scan machine, which scans the body, heart and lungs, and performs vital colonoscopies. Since it can detect life-threatening diseases in
a matter of minutes, it can greatly improve recovery and survival rates, which is imperative since studies indicate that 3 out of every 4 people will die from heart disease and cancer.
The Center offers a vast array of services for men and women, including hormone balancing, healthy sexuality, healthy aging, menopause, and personalized preventative medicine; gynecology and natural fertility; alternative treatments for chronic diseases including heart disease, hypertension and diabetes; acupuncture and massage therapy; and detoxification therapies.
Dr. Connealy writes guest health columns for magazines and is published in “The Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association” (JANA), as well as “Healthy Aging” magazine. She most recently had the leading “feature” article on Newstarget.com and Nutraceuticalreport.com. She is a weekly co-host on Frank Jordan’s national radio show “Healthy, Wealthy & Wise” on XM Satellite Family Talk 170, and is a frequent guest speaker at professional organizations and on cable television shows that highlight health topics, like KTBN’s “Joy in Our Town” and “Know the Cause” with Doug Kaufman, which airs across the country daily.
In addition, Dr. Connealy developed a line of products called “perfectlyhealthy” products for healthy living, due to decades of experience and successful clinical results with her patients. She is truly helping her patients find their path to wellness each and every day.
